Right off the bat I want to start with a quote:
“Wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it.” | |
|
I have always been a person who seems to know what to do and then does it. This quote amplifies that quality and I believe we all have the capability to know what to do and do it.
This semester is my last as an undergraduate here at Dominican University of California which also means that it will also be my last semester on the radio as an undergrad as well. When asked the question "what are you going to do with your degree?" I always say, "Just get it!" That philosophy has worked well for me because it gave me the freedom to be open to whatever experiences and opportunities came my way and to be flexible enough to try a few things on for size.
What I have noticed that fits for me is to create opportunities to be someone who is an encourager - no matter what field or task at hand. Ahead of me are opportunities for teaching and administration here at Dominican, so I am hoping that you will still hear my voice on the radio, not as a student finding my voice, but as a guide to help others find their own voice. I have so appreciated that you have listened and connected with me through the airwaves and I look forward to whatever the future brings here at radio.dominican.edu!
My focus this semester will be to ask the question "What does it mean to 'know what to do, and do it'?". I want to collect information from various people on what they think of this concept and how it relates in their lives.
The ideals here at Dominican are Study, Reflection, Service, and Community - meant to help us become well rounded humans that have something to offer the world outside ourselves. I believe that 'knowing what to do, and doing it' can be interlaced with these qualities to create a very powerful presence that makes a difference wherever we go. I hope I embody these ideals and I love sharing what I learn and know with you!
I have never set out to become a famous or sought after radio personality. I just like hanging out talking about the things that make us tick and how to use our experiences (and the experiences of others) to our advantage.
I am so grateful for my time here at Dominican and at Penguin Radio and I look forward to giving back as much as I can to help people live and love their lives!
Catch me on the radio Fridays, 2-4pm, here on Finding Your Voice with DJ Noni on radio.dominican.edu.
Love,
DJ Noni
