Show #6 - March 5, 2012

This week's Dedication:
Finding Your Voice with DJ Noni show #6 was dedicated to my friend Chloe, and her husband Ben, who at the time of airing were pregnant and expecting their first child. A few days after the show they welcomed their healthy baby girl, McKenna Lynn to the world. Congrats Chloe and Ben and welcome to the world McKenna!

Angel Message:
Let Go!

"God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Power Thought Message:
"I trust my inner wisdom. As I go about my daily affairs, I listen to my own guidance. My intuition is always on my side. I trust it to be there at all times. I am safe."

A pair of earthquakes rattled the Bay Area at 5:33am on Monday, March 5th, 2012. The temblors were 2.9 and 4.0 in magnitude, a few moments apart, and were centered near El Cerrito in West Contra Costa County. The quakes also rattled Marin County and several after shocks, registering at 2.0 and 1.2, occurred shortly after the original quakes.  There was no major damage reported.

Professional Etiquette Tips for Networking and Business Meals
As shared by Syndi Seid, Professional Etiquette Coach, at Dominican University's Professional Etiquette Dinner, sponsored by the Career and Internship Department.

Highlights for Networking:
1. Pre-plan your wardrobe and your driving directions at least a day before.
2. Write your full name in block letters on your name tag and place it on your upper right shoulder.
3. Arrive on time (not to early and certainly not late)
4. Confidently introduce yourself with a brief statement of your name and what you do/your company name.
5. Firm, brief handshake (no limp fish or vice grip squeeze)

Highlights for Professional Table Manners:
1. Refrain from drinking alcohol - especially if it is an interview meal
2. Enter and exit your chair from the right.
3. At the table, your bread plate is on the left and drink glasses are on the right.
4. When you are finished eating place your fork and knife in the "10:20" position to signal you are done.
5. At the end of your meal, before you stand up, place your napkin, gently folded, on the table to the left of your plate, and after you stand up, push your chair in.

"What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do"
Summarized from the personal blog of Michael Hyatt, Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers
http://michaelhyatt.com/

Just do the next right thing.
1. Forget about the ultimate outcome - many variables will change along the way - let go of it.
2. Focus on the next right action - what small thing that you can do will keep your project moving?
3. Do something now - something is better than nothing.

From our call in listener, James, of Petaluma
1. Step Back and take a breath for perspective.
2. Break the project/worry down into smaller, more manageable chunks.
3. Call in your support system (family, friends, professionals) who can either listen without fixing or who can give thoughtful, relevant, and non-judgmental advice.
